*How The Book Starts With Underage Boyfriend Signing Up To *the book starts with underage boyfriend signing up to to war he immediately dies and his mourning girlfriend Hanneke laments his loss and his farewell letter that she tore up before readingfor the ntire book we hear about Bas first kiss last kiss but there is no story building or character buildingthe story seems to flit in and out without Quit Smoking Boot Camp: The Fast-Track to Quitting Smoking Again for Good ever staying in one spot longnough to get to know a character Judith and Mina one minute they are there next they are never mentioned again The reader is constantly left hanging and unfulfilledBy comparision I LOVED the Pulitizer Prize winning The Light We Cannot See which also has a young girl as the main character She lived on the dge and by her wits Throughout the book you travel with her feel her pain and sorrow and her fleeting joy but make no mistake Girl in The Blue Coat is no where close to The Light We Cannot SeeI give Girl in a Blue Coat a thumbs down The author has a masterful command of We Cannot SeeI give Girl in a Blue Coat a thumbs down The author has a masterful command of English language She conveys both the best and worst aspects of humanity with mpathy but dispassion which may seem like an oxymoron but somehow this author achieves both This book never insults your intelligence or stirs up artificial sensationalized Guide facile Arrêter de fumer définitivement emotions The characters seem as real and both as lovable and as flawed as ones own relatives An absolutely riveting story based on historicalvents of the Dutch resistance in WWII The storyline centers around a teenage girl who gets caught up in the black market after the German occupation It will appeal to history buffs but the main character and some of the plot twists have a very contemporary feel The spirit of the main character and the geographical setting reminded me very much of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in some ways I don t usually read this genre and the fact that I found it so interesting is a real compliment to the author A really good read Although this book is touted as a young reader se. Amsterdam 1943 Hanneke spends her days procuring and delivering sought after black market goods to paying customers her nights hiding the true nature of her work from her concerned parents and very waking moment mourning her boyfriend who was killed on the front line when the Germans invaded. .
Lection it is apropos to all readers It is a mystery set in the midst of Nazi occupation about a missing Jewish female hideaway There is a surprise nding that is worth waiting for Beautifully written My parents both grew up in the Netherlands and lived there during this time in history The names language and setting was so well described that I could imagine my parents in history The names language and setting was so well described that I could imagine my parents I remember my mom telling us that they never blamed the German people as they were just trying to survive a war they didn t want J'arrête de fumer either It was true to the stories they told us without being so horrific that I couldn t read it I highly recommend it Started well but fell short of being a good read It became tedious and repetitive Tried to becomexciting but failed to deliver Awful plot slow and too much of the same details I m an ELA teacher for grade 8 My 8th grade daughter and I read this after it was on a list of new winning literature Bad call for those judges My daughter has read over 30 books on Holocaust lit and this was literally the ONLY one that she didn t like I agree Amazing read Wow Makes you think a lot I uickly started caring about Hanneke and admired her determination and courage War brings out so many different parts of our humanity Hanneke reminds us of the need to harden oneself and look for Quit Smoking Today Without Gaining Weight (Book) (English Edition) every way to survive The story is written so well that you feel pangs in the heart with agonizing loss and hope It is beautiful that our basic need to love and be loved does not disappear Ollie is an unsung hero He is good to the core and I so very much liked him Judith and Mina are wonderful and thankfully people like Mina left usvidence of the atrocities I appreciated all the characters and the detail given to them their roles and to their surroundings These teenagers and young adults had to tackle issues and situations that are too complicated for adults The story was true to motions dominating until someone managed to steady the situation and be a voice of reason Anger frustration fear forgiveness love bravery and much were well portrayed It was incredible how well written the story is and how I did not want to put it down There were many twists and turns She likes to think of her illegal work as a small act of rebellion But one day Hanneke gets a very unusual reuest One of her regular customers asks her to find a girl A girl who has disappeared from the secret room in her house A Jewish girlAs she searches for clues Hanneke is drawn into a dan. .
